Last year, Thursday 18th October, 2018 we launched the first edition of Personal Hygiene and Health Promotion Program at Lagos State Education District III (Iwerekun secondary school, Lakowe, Ibeju – Lekki). The objectives was to re-orientate, empower and prepare participants for responsible adult in their families and communities.
The school outreach which was branded as My Hygiene, My Pride. About 500 girls in Iwerekun Community Junior Secondary School, Ibeju-Lekki area was reached with the approval of Lagos State Ministry of Education and Education Board. The program activity was in 3 sessions for 90 minutes with Health Promotion focus on Menstrual Hygiene Awareness, Questions and Answers, Counselling Care Support. See pictures below;
The Program facilitators are Ms Grace Akinyemi, Mrs Grecelda Hobson, Mr Thomas Ladipo, Pastor Emmanuel Owoyemi. The program organisation partners are Elevation Point, Mental health foundation, Nigeria, Civil Recruitment and consulting Limited and Nathaniel Ayodeji as the Program Health Psychologist and intervention partner. Ms Grace Akinyemi began with an introduction expressing the purpose and her passion for this mission and followed by one of the ambassador of SLM; Mrs Grecelda Hobson, Who anchored the training as well as the interactive session. Pastor Emmanuel Owoyemi and Mr Thomas Ladipo facilitate the orderly distribution of the Hygienic packs and the refreshment to the students and the school staff.

MY HYGIENE, MY PRIDE - PRESS RELEASE
Imagine a woman being thrown out of her matrimonial home because nature did not bestow on her male children! Imagine a woman being separated from her biological children because of natural circumstances beyond her control.
This was the ordeal of a Nigerian mother who with endurance, perseverance and humility weathered the storm to raise a good and enviable family. During her travail, one of her children, Grace Akinyemi, was compelled to live with a relative where she was subjected to ill-treatment. Her challenges in her early school days in Maroko area of Lagos grew from one to another including unavailability of school fees, uniform and educational materials, among others.
