Since the founding of Shalom Link Mission (SLM) in 2004 we have supported people in need by providing them with shelter and a place to sleep. SLM was then registered in 2015 as a company and have since then sent seven children to school with scholarships and helped many communities start businesses based on the life skills they had. Below are some of the projects we've done.
MAJOR PROJECTS SO FAR:
PERSONAL HYGIENE AND HEALTH PROMOTIONAL PROGRAM (PEH-HEP) 2018
On the 18th of October 2018, we will be holding a program to meet 500 girls who are JSS.3 students of Iwerekun Junior Community Secondary School at Ibeju-Lekki LGA, Lagos for 90 minutes which will involve a brief tutor on hygienic lifestyle, special session on menstrual hygiene by one of our female representatives as well as distribution of free hygiene packs with information booklets.
- MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS DAY 2017
On the 10th of October 2017, there was a march for mental health awareness where the surrounding community were involved and spoken to. The event involved many nationally recognised specialists in the field that came and spoke about the current stigma of mental health in Nigeria and how that could be broken.
- COMMUNITY OUTREACH 2016
During the same trip to Nigeria in September of 2016, SLM partnered with Soul Reapers International to carry out a Community Outreach to the Lakowe community.The purpose of this was to provide people with High blood Pressure checks, Malaria checks and also provide medical support, assistance and advice.
- TRIP TO TOGO 2015
On the 12th of November 2015, Shalom Link Mission went to Togo for another mission trip where we organised a crusade, preached the gospel and people gave their life to Christ. In addition we were also able to set up a youth centre in the village of Agbavi for the youth and young children to have a place to play and meet their friends.
- MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS DAY 2015
On the 10th of October 2015 in association with The Mental Health Foundation Nigeria, a programme was held to raise awareness for mental health in Nigeria. We walked around the Sabo and Yaba area in Nigeria and approached the community to highlight the different conditions associated with mental illness. Our aim was to make an effort towards removing the stigma surrounding mental health in Nigeria.
- TRIP TO DONGO 2015
In October of 2015, we had our first mission trip to Dongo, Nigeria. The purpose of the mission was to find out which communities we could impact and cause a great positive change to. In our search, we discovered Dongo a remote community in dire need of a school and clinic. This was the birth of Project Dongo.
