On Tuesday the 10th of October 2017, the Mental Health Foundation Nigeria held a celebration of the work and effort that has gone into awareness and support of people with mental health in Nigeria. With Shalom Link Mission as an advocate for Mental Health Nigeria and in partnership with several major organizations in Nigeria, CEO and founder of Mental Health Foundation Nigeria, Mr Emmanuel Owoyemi was able to organise an event that brought awareness to the people of Nigeria about what mental health truly is.
The event involved many nationally recognized psychiatrists and specialists that came and spoke about the current stigma of mental health in Nigeria and how that could be broken, where support is needed and how that could be implemented and how the government could also help with defeating the current stigma in Nigeria.
There was also a march to signify the season and time of year for mental health awareness where the surrounding community was involved and spoken to.
